Sudhir Ruparelia Thursday appeared before Lady Justice Catherine Bamugemereire-chaired land commission to explain how he acquired a prime land belonging to a public school in Kololo. The businessman said he had been compelled to step in and save the ground from being taken over and turned into a commercial entity by a developer and a school.

Businessman Sudhir Ruparelia has said he had little option but to step in and prevent a school that was working with a developer from turning a public playground into a commercial facility.
Appearing before Lady Justice Catherine Bamugemereire-chaired land commission on Thursday, the 62-year-old businessman said his own school needed the same facility for use and yet it was on the verge of being taken over by a developer.
Sudhir is the proprietor of Kampala Parents School.
His lease of the land, he said, was done in public interest and not with the said ulterior motive of monopolising it.
The land commission had summoned Sudhir to explain his acquisition of a plot of land previously belonging to Kololo Secondary School. The property in question was previously used by Kololo SS and Kampala Parents School, as well as the general public as a leisure and recreation facility.
