Works and Transport minister Gen Katumba Wamala has said that his health condition is not life threatening and that God has saved his life after surviving an assassination attempt on his life.

Speaking in a recorded video surrounded by his family from Medipal Hospital in Kololo, Gen Katumba said he will be fine after being attended to by doctors, and prayed for unity among his children.

“I will be fine. I have survived; we have lost Brenda (his daughter) but that is God’s plan; she did nothing in this world. God has given me a second chance. I will pull through. I don’t have bad injuries; only the arms but I will be fine. I am in good hands of doctors,” he said.

Gen Katumba also urged the family to pray for his mother whom he said is devastated at the moment and needs attention. He did not explain the mum’s medical condition. Gen Katumba also urged the family to come together and bury Brenda Nantongo Wamala, his daughter, who was killed in the attack.

Meanwhile, several army officers and ministers flocked the health facility to check on Gen Katumba.

Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah and his Deputy Anita Among were also among those sighted at the hospital to check on Gen Katumba.

Also present was Dr Chris Baryomunsi, the outgoing Housing minister, who informed journalists that Gen Katumba is out of danger.

The army is investigating the attack.
