GE HealthCare, a leading global MedTech company headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, has appointed Dr. Alex Oketch as General Manager for East Africa. The leadership transition reinforces the company’s commitment to deepening its regional presence and advancing healthcare innovation across the continent.
In his new capacity, Dr. Oketch will lead GE HealthCare’s commercial strategy in East Africa, with a mandate to strengthen local partnerships, expand market share, and optimise resources to unlock the region’s full potential.
Dr. Oketch brings to the role over two decades of leadership and industry experience, including more than 10 years with GE HealthCare and 1.5 years with GE Energy Management. Over the past 11 months, he has served as Interim General Manager for East Africa, where he delivered strong results and provided stability during a period of transition.
Before joining GE, Dr. Oketch held key roles at Cisco Systems, France Telecom, MTN Group, and Swift Global Ltd, successfully driving commercial strategy across East and Sub-Saharan Africa.
Dr. Oketch holds a PhD in Social Transformation ( Governance) from Tangaza University and an MBA from Birmingham Business School (England), in addition to a Master of Arts and Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies from the Catholic University of Eastern Africa.
His leadership achievements have been nationally recognised, earning him the Order of the Grand Warrior of Kenya (2024) and a spot among the Top 40 Under 40 leaders (2021).
