Airtel Africa, has appointed Manoj Murali as the new Managing Director for Airtel Uganda, to replace V.G Somasekhar, who resigned at the beginning of March 2020.
Somasekhar, who was supposed to leave at the end of March but was caught up due to the Covid-19 lockdown, returns to the Bharti Airtel Group in India for redeployment.
Manoj has been the Chief Executive Officer for Kerala & Tamilnadu Division in at India’s Bharti Airtel Limited.
This website understands that the announcement for the new Managing Director was made to Airtel Uganda staff this Wednesday, by Raghunath Venkateswarlu Mandava the Airtel Africa CEO.

Manoj, who has worked for Bharti Airtel for over 19 years in various executive roles has a rich customer service as well as sales and marketing background. He is a graduate of the University of Poona and also holds an MBA, Marketing from the Symbiosis International University in Maharashtra, India.
Manoj’s appointment and his credentials are not surprising. He comes at a time when MTN Uganda, has been on a resurgent wave, trying to recapture lost ground from Airtel. He is expected in the country soonest the airports open up.
