Former Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Public Service and Labour, Henry Kajura, sued the Attorney General, as the principal adviser of government, and the China National Offshore Oil Corporation(CNOOC) Uganda Limited, claiming Sh3.5 billion in compensation over a piece of land in Masindi District.

The commercial court deputy registrar has referred to the civil court a case in which former long-serving minister Henry Kajura is demanding sued the Attorney General–as the principal adviser of government–and the China National Offshore Oil Corporation(CNOOC) Uganda Limited.
The former Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Public Service and Labour is demanding Sh3.5 billion in compensation over a piece of land in Masindi District that was taken over for oil exploration-related activities.
Kajura argues that the said land was taken over by the government for road construction, that he was among the people whose land was affected by the Kyangwali Bahuka (escarpment) road project in Masindi District by CNOOC.
The case was filed at the commercial court on June 6 last year.
However, Vincent Mugabo, the commercial court deputy registrar and also the Judiciary public relations officer, said the case was not a commercial court matter.
