Ishaazi Farm Lodge’s location—a rural setting yet with all the modern amenities, allows you to relax, breathe in some good air and escape the crazy city and the hustles and bustles of life.

Ishaazi Farm Lodge is located in Rushere town along Kaguta Road in Kiruhura District in southwestern Uganda. Kiruhura is home to the Bahima people, who are part of the cattle-keeping community of Uganda.

Ishaazi is a Runyankore term used to refer to the resting grounds for cattle.

The lodge is perched atop a hill that rolls down to a green valley overlooking the main road. It is located a few metres from the main road. The lodge is a home away from home, especially for those travelling as family or friends.

The lodge has 13 rooms with an accommodation capacity of up to 26. It is an exquisite property set up on a ranch with a touch of both modernity and tradition.

Guests have room to visit the ranch and learn about the ways of the cattle-keeping community that Rushere is. You wake up to milking the graceful long-horned Ankole cows in an activity called okukama and later see them off as they go to graze in an activity known as okusetura.

Ishaazi has cottages designed in the traditional architectural design of the Hima culture. The grass-built huts are naturally ‘air-conditioned’ which makes it easy to survive the piercing heat when the sun is unbearable.

At the bonfire camp, you get to witness to sit back and enjoy conversations with friends as you sip on your glass of wine or cup of freshly made tea milked at the farm.

The Ankole Cow Farm experience is a must-do; an authentic reminder that you are deep within the cattle-keeping Bahima tribe of Ankole, western Uganda.

The upper balcony gives you a 360 view of the various sprawling hills as they weave into each other.

The farm lodge is the gateway to Queen Elizabeth National Park which is about three hours’ drive. Kibale National Park, the Bigodi Wetland Bird Sanctuary and the crater lakes belt of Kabarole-Bunnyangabu districts are all within a 2-3 hours’ drive. It is also closer to Lake Mburo National Park. You can also connect to Mbarara in case you intend to continue to Kabale to visit Lake Bunyonyi or Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in Kanungu District.

The farm gives you a rejuvenating ambience so that you don’t get exhausted during your trip around western Uganda.
