Effective June 30th 2022, Michael Kimoni will be retiring from Ernst and Young (EY) after serving the organisation for 35 years.
Michael joined EY in Kenya in 1987 as an Audit Associate, rising through the ranks and was admitted to partnership in 2007. He joined the Uganda office in 2011 and has served clients in Uganda for the last 11 years.
Michael’s career spans over 35 years, during which he acquired wide experience at various levels of responsibility in audit, accountancy, taxation, secretarial and consultancy services with clients from all sectors of the economy, including donor funded organisations and projects within the East African region.
He has also conducted peer reviews of Ernst & Young offices in India, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania & Uganda. “Michael’s passion for the EY brand has improved the profile and brand of the Uganda firm,” EY Uganda says, adding:
“His calmness and people skills has been instrumental in keeping our clients and people together. Michael will be retiring from the firm effective 30th June 2022. We congratulate and wish Michael the very best in his retirement.”
At the same time, Freda Kaheru Agaba has been appointed to Partner effective 1 July 2022. Freda served as an Associate Director in EY Kampala in the Assurance service line.
She started her career at EY in 2005 and has gained experience in audit and consultancy services that spans over 17 years in different EY offices including EY Uganda, United Kingdom and South Sudan. Her experience covers financial, compliance and internal control audits in the public and private sectors including banking and financial services, oil and gas, telecommunication, manufacturing, and not-for-profit organisations.
“Freda has been the director leading our audit quality and will continue with this role by supporting our teams to deliver assurance services in accordance with the firm’s Global Audit Methodologies and ensuring exceptional client service,” EY Uganda states.
Freda is a Certified Public Accountant, a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) and a member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (CPA-U) and Institute of Corporate Governance of Uganda. She holds a degree in BA Accounting & Finance, University of Kent, UK.
