Following three and a half years of tutelage under her father’s wings, as Chief of Staff of the Simba Group, Dr. Nataliey Bitature has effective this month, January 2020 been appointed Managing Director of the hotels division of Simba Group.
Simba Group is a hospitality; media/communications, agriculture, energy and real estate conglomerate, founded by billionaire entrepreneur, Patrick Bitature.
The hotels division is composed of Protea Hotel by Marriott Kampala- a 70-roomed four-star hotel in the leafy Kololo suburbs and Protea Hotel by Marriott Kampala Skyz- a 141-roomed four-star hotel atop NAguru Hill, another affluent Kampala suburbs.
Some of the other group’s prominent establishments, include: Simba Telecom, Simba Properties, Electro-Maxx, Travel Care and Simba Properties.
Writing on her LinkedIn profile, Dr. Nataliey who was on January 24th 2020 bestowed upon an honorary Doctorate of Science by Keele University in England, said that the Managing Director job involves, “overseeing strategy, operations and special projects.”
As Chief of Staff of Simba Group, she managed group headquarters staff; was a director of the Protea Hotel by Marriott Kampala Skyz, as well as a Director of The Bitature Foundation- the philanthropy arm of Simba Group.
Previously named a Forbes “30 under 30”and one of World Economic Forum “Top 5 African Innovators”, Nataliey, was according to Professor Trevor McMillan, Vice Chancellor at Keele University, chosen for the prestigious award for “her outstanding career and commitment to supporting women in business” a trait that the university said, made her “inspiring entrepreneur and worthy role model for students.”
Dedicates award to uplifting and empowering more young African women
An alumni of Keele University who graduated in 2013 with a degree in Business Management and Education, Nataliey was recognised for her initiative called ‘HER’, an online community programme where young women in business are equipped with both business and life skills that are designed to help them grow in their businesses and life.

She also co-founded Musana Carts – a business concept that creates solar-powered street vending carts designed for micro-entrepreneurs across Uganda. According to Nataliey, “Musana Carts are modular, made for customization of business features including fridges, sockets and mobile money terminals. Beyond its features, Musana Carts equips its vendors with finance and business training and offers a path to legalization for those trapped in the informal sector.”
While at the University to receive her honours, Nataliey, together with Denise Coates CBE, one of the world’s most successful business leaders also officially opened The Denise Coates Foundation Building, a new state-of-the-art home of Keele University’s Business School and a “Smart Innovation Hub” and collaborative workspace.
Again, writing on her LinkedIn timeline, an animated Nataliey said: “I am humbled, and accept this honour with great responsibility to do more. Let us work together to grow this online community so we can uplift and empower more young African women!”

Of the Smart Innovation Hub at Keele University, Nataliey said: “When business and education come together, the potential for innovation is immense! This shared space will bring students and the business community together, reaffirming Keele’s commitment to innovation and sustainability,” she said, adding: “Collaboration and social inclusion are key when we want to build solutions for the future.”
