Global logistics company DHL express has planted 120 trees along a 1 kilometer stretch of the northern by pass in Kalerwe a Kampala suburb as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program. The initiative is in partnership with the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) Youth Go Green Campaign (YGGC) launched in 2012 to mobilize corporations and other institutions to plant trees along newly constructed and rehabilitated roads.
Addressing the media during the event held on 14th May 2014, DHL Operations Manager Francis Nkurunungi revealed that as of 2007 the company contributed 28.4 million tonnes of carbon emissions. “We therefore took the initiative to offset these emissions by 30 percent and by 2012, we had already reduced by 10 percent,
