Development Finance Company of Uganda (Dfcu) Bank has started laying off former workers of the defunct Crane Bank.
According to highly placed sources familiar with this development, close to 500 former Crane Bank employees are expected to exit Dfcu operations effective this week. Crane Bank had slightly over 600 staff spread across their 45 branches.
“500 of the over 600 are to be laid off. A Human Resource (HR) Committee has been set up to interview them, thereafter another called an Executive Committee will do so for formality as it is not good to terminate people without subjecting them to a decent hearing. Bank of Uganda will compensate them upon termination and Dfcu will not take any liability upon termination,
