Insurance companies should consider listing shares in the capital markets as a means of raising capital, Chief Executive Officer of the Uganda Capital Markets Authority (CMA) Keith Kalyegira has advised. The move would help expand capital base and strengthen their financial status by allowing individuals to put their money in to the companies. He explained given that insurance penetration in Uganda is still low, the reliance on premiums is not viable to sustain the corporate profits.

Speaking during corporate dinner hosted by the ICEA at the Sheraton Kampala hotel recently, Kalyegira said, “Floating shares in to the market provides a great avenue of raising the much needed capital.
