Chinese automaker Jetour Group has officially entered the Ugandan market, unveiling two of its flagship SUV models—the DASHING and the X70 Plus—at a launch event held at the Serena Hotel in Kampala.

The brand will be distributed exclusively by Al Mamoun East Africa, a company with significant investments across Sudan, South Sudan, the UAE and other regions. In Uganda, Al Mamoun will operate a showroom and after-sales service centre based in Namanve. The company also revealed that Jetour’s model range will soon expand further with the introduction of the Jetour T2 before the end of the year.

Government Endorsement

Finance Minister Matia Kasaija, who officiated at the launch, welcomed Jetour’s entry as a timely boost to Uganda’s industrial and economic landscape.

A Fast-Growing Global Brand

Established in 2018 as part of the Chery Holding Group, Jetour has rapidly grown into a global brand known for producing stylish, practical, and affordable SUVs. The company positions itself as a provider of “good life cars” designed to meet modern consumer needs for travel convenience, performance, and design appeal.

The entry into Uganda comes at a time when Chinese automotive brands are expanding their presence globally. In Europe, Chinese brands doubled their market share in the first half of 2025 to reach 5.1%, underscoring their rising competitiveness on the global stage.

Focus on Value for Ugandans

Zein Abdelmutaal, Chief Operating Officer at Al Mamoun East Africa, highlighted Jetour’s commitment to providing affordable yet dependable solutions for Ugandan motorists.

“We are fully committed to investing in after-sales support, availing spare parts and building solid channels so that maintaining a Jetour in Uganda is easy,” Abdelmutaal said.

Richard Bamujje, Sales Manager at Al Mamoun East Africa, underscores the performance, safety, and value of the Jetour DASHING and X70 Plus at the brand’s official launch in Uganda.

Sales Manager Richard Bamujje emphasised that Jetour’s lineup would provide both individuals and businesses with better options in a market long dominated by used vehicle imports.

“Uganda’s automotive sector has for years lacked variety and dependable solutions. With Jetour, we are filling that gap. From individuals seeking premium SUVs to corporate fleet managers looking to lower operational costs, we are offering vehicles that combine quality, efficiency, and value,” Bamujje said.
