A few days ago, a photo of billionaire (in dollars) Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia almost broke the internet- for the rarest of reasons; his fashion sense.

While officially inaugurating his latest $10 million, 12-storey Electrical Plaza on Market Street and Kiyembe Lane in the busy downtown Kampala, the 63-year old businessman took social media by storm.

Clad in all white- spotting skinny white ripped jeans, slightly folded at the hems and matching white shoes and milk-white cotton short sleeved shirt and a diamond stud in one of the ears, Dr. Sudhir’s photo, of him speaking to his daughter in-law Naiya Khagram attracted a lot of online attention and reviews.

MAN IN WHITE: Too hip at 63 years, Dr Sudhir together with his son Rajiv Ruparelia and daughter in-law Naiya Khagram, sports white shoes, shorts, t-shirt and fedora hat.

“All white everything. Skinny damaged jeans and all. 63 looks very good on Sudhir Ruparelia,” wrote lifestyle journalist and PR expert, Henry Ssali on his Facebook timeline.  

“With all due respect, I think the designer of Kaguta Museveni should talk to the designer of Uncle Sudhir,” wrote Lucky Mbabazi, a Radio/TV presenter on her twitter feed.

Our CEO Lifestyle reporter reached out to Dr. Sudhir about his new-found fashion sense and his new lean looks and specifically about the ripped jeans, he was candid:

“It is the fashion and the order of the day plus I like the ripped jeans,” he said.

And if you were wondering how much his jeans cost him, he said: “My jeans cost around USD100 (UGX370,000) each and I buy from H&M Stores and Debenhams in Dubai and London as I like the cotton they use.”

“I own about 50 white jeans/trousers and about 50 white cotton/line shirts.  I also only put on white shoes mainly from Lacoste, Louis Vuitton and Tod’s.  These designers specializes in white shoes,” he said.

Lacoste and Louis Vuitton are both French luxury brands while Tod’s is an Italian luxury fashion house.  

He said he also own several white t-shirts, cotton shorts and fedora hats.

On his love for white as a colour he has this to say: “It is because white gives a very positive energy according to my stars.”

Some of the yet to be worn white apparels. Dr. Sudhir says he owns over 50 white shirts and 50 white jeans and cotton trousers- each of which costs an average USD100. He says shopping many clothes at ago saves time, guarantees him quality and consistency.
Although he literally hates suits, he also owns a few formal shirts for when it is absolutely necessary.
The formal white shirts are reserved for such rare occasions like this, when he had to go to a London Gentlemen’s club where appearance without a suit will guarantee you an automatic door-in-your-face.
