George Rwabajungu, brings to thejob over 17 years of senior management experience, largely in finance.

The Board of Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL), has appointed Mr. George Rwabajungu as its substantive CEO, effective today July 1st, 2020, CEO East Africa, can confirm.

UETCL is a government of Uganda owned entity that bulk-buys electricity and transmits it to the various distributors, mainly Umeme who controls over 97% of the distribution segment.

George has been UETCL’s Manager, Finance, Accounts and Sales. He replaces Mr. Katabira Valentine, the Deputy CEO, but who has been the Acting Chief Executive Officer.

He brings into the job, over 17 years of senior leadership.

Between January 2003 and June 2006 he was the Chief Fiannce Officer at National Housing and Construction Company Limited, before moving to Uganda Railways Corporation as the CFO and Administration Officer under an interim Contract by the Transaction Advisor. In January 2007, he was retained by the board Uganda Railways as a Financial Advisor under various assignments for a year.

In February 2008, he joined Fintech Firm, Map Switch Uganda Limited as its Finance Director until May 2010 when he joined UETCL, where he has been to date.

George has a BCom Degree in Accounting from Makerere University as well as an MBA from the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom. He is also an FCCA fellow. He has attended Leadership programmes at the Strathmore Business School, in Nairobi Kenya and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore
