Billionaire businessman Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia has today taken his first jab of the AstraZeneca vaccine joining the growing number of Ugandans who have already taken the jab that reduces their chances of contracting COVID-19.
Dr. Sudhir received the shot from UMC Victoria Hospital, the first private hospital to be accredited by the Ministry of Health to administer the Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 Vaccines.
Uganda kicked off its first phase of the vaccination against COVID-19 early in the month with about 964,000 doses got through donations to be administered to high-risk groups, including frontline workers like health workers, police and teachers, among others.
Dr. Sudhir joins the list of prominent people such as the Health Minister, Dr.Jane Ruth Aceng, First son Muhoozi Kainerugaba who have taken the Covid jab.
Uganda has 40,500 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 334 recorded deaths.
