Ali Monze takes over as MTN Rwanda's new CEO.

 Ali Monzer, a seasoned telecommunications professional has been appointed the new Chief Executive Officer of MTN Rwanda. 

He replaces Ms. Mapula Bodipe, a South African national who has been holding the position since September 2022.

Mr Monzer spent close to a year as the MTN South Sudan CEO from April 2024, a relatively short period for a serving CEO.  

Before moving to restive South Sudan, Mr Monzer had been a household name in Uganda’s telecommunications sector, where he had spent close to six years as the MTN Uganda Chief Technology and Information Officer.  

Mr Monzer has over 24 years of telecommunications industry experience and has demonstrated success in operational efficiency, cost optimisation, market growth and customer experience enhancement. 

He started his career in 2001 as a Technical Manager at the United Stat Africa Network, and switched to MTN Ghana in 2004, where he rose through the ranks from charging engineer, senior service delivery manager-infrastructure, and later general manager in the same role until 2011. 

In 2015, Mr Monzer was appointed MTN’s general manager solution delivery / head of architecture in Nigeria, serving for three years until 2018. 

He eventually switched to MTN Uganda as the chief information officer and later promoted to chief technology and information officer until 2024. 

He holds a master’s in computer communication engineering and relevant industry certifications.
