Abel Kagumire is the new Commissioner Customs, Uganda Revenue Authority replacing Mr Dicksons Kateshumbwa who resigned from the tax organization in May after being transferred to head the domestic taxes department in February.
Also newly appointed is Richard Kariisa who is now Commissioner Corporate Services and John Tinka Katungwensi, Assistant Commissioner Large Tax Payer office.
Their appointment follows a special Board meeting today where a Staff Committee interviewed various candidate to fill vacant senior management positions.
Kagumire has worked at URA for more than 17 years, serving in different capacities.
Leading to his appointment as full commissioner, he has served as Assistant Commissioner Customs Audit since September 2018. Prior to that, he was a Manager customs from October 2002
Richard Kariisa, on the other hand, joined the tax organization in August 1999 and has been in the assistant commissioner position.
The appointments take effect from September 1, 2020.
