Ferdinand Kamya appointed Tax Director at Libra Advocates

Ferdinand Kamya has been appointed the new Tax Director at Libra Advocates and Consultants.

“I’m happy to share that I’m starting a new position as Tax Director at Libra Advocates and Consultants,” he said of his new position.

Ferdinand is a committed tax consultant with strong communication, negotiation and analytical skills with a proven track record of eight years with leading providers of world class professional services in Uganda, having been exposed to a comprehensive array of tax consulting and compliance opportunities’. He has a proven track record in business development and sales from a local an international standpoint, with excellent communication and client management skills.

Kamya has been at Tax Director at Libra Advocates and Consultants since November 2021.

At the same time, he is a Tax Consultant with Grant Thornton Uganda from 2016.

He is also a Tax Senior Associate with Deloitte Uganda, holding the position for 11 years now.

Here, he conducted detailed computations for clients to calculate tax liability and provided advice on how to manage compliance; was in charge of researching, analyzing and interpreting changing tax legislation in Uganda especially after the annual national Budget was read; met with clients and collating information, and responding to client inquiries; worked closely with tax law and revenue positions (drafting and following up on private rulings); prepared and submitting compliance (tax) returns by the deadline; offered support on indirect taxation issues such as VAT, Customs tax; among other responsibilities

Kamya has also worked as a Senior tax advisor and Grants Officer USAID FMA still as Deloitte Uganda. Here, his role was to assist the Grants Manager in implementing the USAID grants program to ensure that the grants review and selection process is done in a manner that is responsible, professional, financially sound, and in accordance with USAID policies and procedures.

Kamya holds a Bachelor’s Degree LLB Law from University of the West of England, and is pursuing a professional qualification with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA)
