We dedicated the whole of October to appreciating, rewarding and recognizing our Standard Chartered Bank Customers for choosing to bank with us.

We recognize that they are the anchor of our business, the reason we have remained open for 109 years without any interruption, so we do not take their business support for granted, says Belinda Nabaggala Ssemwanga, Head Client Experience, Standard Chartered Bank Uganda as she talks to CEO East Africa Magazine about the many ways the banks chose to reward those who bank with it.

How have you celebrated this year’s customer service month with your clients?

To show our gratitude to our Corporate, Priority, Personal and Business clients for their business support and loyalty, we have undertaken several initiatives which included; offering 62 clients dinner at Kampala Serena Hotel, 125 clients received breakfast at Café Javas, 100 clients received Coffee at Endiro, 33 clients received plaques, 100 clients received gift hampers, 70 clients received certificates, many more received airtime and much more.

Over the month we also held client experience initiatives like ‘Digital Open Days’ to sensitize our clients on our SC Mobile App and Straight2Bank platform capabilities and responded to their enquiries.

We have also been running Client virtual ‘Treasure Hunts’ on our social media pages. This particular initiative was exciting, engaging and several clients won instant prizes for their active participation.

Tell us more about the #LaughwithSCB initiative

This idea originated from our need to bring joy, laughter and some excitement as we celebrate our clients who we are aware are struggling with one challenge or the other. We gave great thought to what we can do to make them feel appreciated and effectively say thank you, so we decided on a comedy show to help them unwind and have a good laugh.

As we conclude our customer service month, we are inviting our clients and general public to join us for a Comedy night show dubbed #LaughwithSCB happening today, Friday 29th October 2021 at 8:00pm showcasing some of our finest comedians. We are targeting over 1,000 participants and the show will be streamed live on our Facebook page and via Zoom (meeting ID: 6447392558, passcode: 1234).

Participants should expect a fun event with prizes to be won as they relax and wind down their week.

But that’s not all, we also encourage 100 of our clients to visit WellCare Ltd (Dr. Kasenene’s clinic) to enjoy discounted consultation fees. Our clients with infinite visa cards will enjoy up to 75% discount while those with gold or platinum cards will get a 50% discount. This offer is valid till 30th November 2021.

So, it’s a reward bonanza all the way.

You say you have been around for 109 years because of your clients, what’s your commitment to them?

As our brand promise attests, we are reiterating our commitment to be Here for good by continuing to harness longstanding and mutually beneficial relationships with our customers and be client centric by focusing on being ‘Here for people.’

We will continue to also be “Here for progress” by driving a robust sustainability agenda that supports communities. We will continue to promote greater economic inclusion for disadvantaged young people through our education, employability and entrepreneurship programmes.

We will also continue to extend support to girls, young women and people with visual impairment from low-income households because this is where the need is greatest. As staff of the bank we will continue to volunteer to change lives by sharing our skills, expertise and positively impact our environment.

We will also continue to leverage our global footprint and rich heritage to provide innovative digital products and services and be “Here for the long run.”
