Concern for the Girl Child (CGC), a Child-focused Non-Government Organization in Uganda, has appointed Marjorie Edith Kasozi Sseruwo as its new Executive Director.
CGC is a Non-Government Organization committed to protecting, respecting and fulfilling the rights of vulnerable children and young people, through the provision of Education and Skills Development, Health, Child Protection, Economic Empowerment and Psychosocial Support in partnership with communities, government and other civil society organizations.
Marjorie brings to Concern for the Girl Child a wealth of experience as a Business Process Re-Engineering Consultant, Behavioral Change Agent, Communication and Documentation Specialist as well as Monitoring and Evaluation for NGO’s.
She has 13 years’ experience working with children in a Not-for-Profit setting and brings on board an assortment of skills and perspectives from both the business and NGO experiences. She previously worked for CGC especially playing a key role, in the organization’s fundraising efforts and mentoring the CGC Alumni called the Big Sisters. She is a member of several movements and charity organizations including the FHK Foundation and has also served previously with Watoto Child Care as a Caregiver Traveling, and Child Sponsorship Coordinator.

Marjorie is also a musician and skills training enthusiast and is passionate about people development and work ethical practices and excellence.
She is an alumnus of the School of Business Leadership at UNISA (University of South Africa) where she graduated with a Master’s in Business Leadership. She also holds a Bachelors in Catering and Hotel Management from Makerere University Business School. She is also currently a student at Ezer Season 5 – Evolving Woman, Wise One Ministries.
In an interview with CEO East Africa Magazine, Marjorie said, she looked forward to using her skills, passion and experience for the benefit of the Ugandan girl child.
“I am ready to take on this role with aplomb especially during this unprecedented period of COVID 19,” she said.
“In my new role as the Executive Director, I intend to bring value through the COVID-19 response integrated ICT programming and engagements, sustainability drivers for CGC’s future through the various projects, and building a strong organizational culture while harnessing diverse programming for all stakeholders,” she said.
