The Ruparelia Group, through its hospitality arm, the Speke Group of Hotels, has unveiled plans to construct a 5-star luxury hotel in Kampala, at the heart of the city.
The hotel, to be called Kingdom Kampala Hotel will consist of 200 luxurious rooms/penthouses; 35 conference rooms, as well as 226 luxurious apartments, that in the words of Dr Sudhir Ruparelia, the Group’s billionaire Founder and Chairman are “very very high end.”
“All plans are finalised. Construction will begin in 2023 and completion is slated for 2026,” he said, in an interview with CEO East Africa magazine.
The hotel, with total built-up space amounting to 110,000 square metres, will be built on a prime location, at the confluence of Nile Avenue, Yusuf Lule Road and Dewinton Roads, in the north-east of Kampala’s Central Business District, next to the just-completed Kampala Kingdom Mall.
The mall, also owned by the group, is a mixed-use building that blends light retail and 10 floors of office space.

When construction is completed, the Ruparelia Group will break its own record of owning Uganda’s largest hotel, previously held by the group’s flagship lake-side 2-in-1 hotels, Speke Resort and Conference Centre and Munyonyo Commonwealth Resort.
The Kampala Kingdom Hotel is the second phase at a 14-acre property, also owned by the group. The next two phases will involve another office tower and serviced apartments.
The Speke Group, which is already Uganda’s largest hotel group has another hotel in the pipeline—the Speke Resort and Convention Centre, Entebbe. Other group hotels include Kabira Country Club, Speke Hotel, Dolphin Suites, Tourist Hotel, Forest Cottages, Speke Apartments, Bukoto Heights
