Wim Vanhelleputte
Chief Executive Officer

Wim Vanhelleputte is a seasoned executive with over 20 years’ experience in the telecommunications sector across 8 countries in Africa- having served in several senior executive roles including CEO of Millicom in Senegal and CEO of Orascom in Chad and Gabon.
Wim currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer for MTN Uganda, a position he has held since 2016. Under his leadership, MTN Uganda has been championing driving connectivity for every Ugandan through high-quality voice, data, and mobile money services, efforts that have seen the company consolidate its position as the number one telco in the country.
Wim holds a Master’s degree in Nuclear and Solid-State Physics and a Bachelor’s degree in General Engineering from the State University of Ghent, Belgium.
Michael Kawesa-Sekadde
General Manager-Human Resources

Michael Kawesa-Sekadde has over 24 years in people management and organizational development out of which 21 have been spent at MTN Uganda.
He joined MTN, shortly after its launch in Uganda in 1999 as a Training and Development Manager and by 2006, he had been appointed the Human Resources Development Manager. In April 2009 he became the GM Human Resources for MTN Uganda, a role he has held, since.
Before MTN, Sekadde was a Human Resources Officer at Centenary Bank and also worked briefly as an Associate Consultant at Network Ltd, an HR and Organizational Development Consultancy Firm in Kampala.
He graduated from Makerere University- Kampala with a (Social Work & Social Administration) as well as holds an MSc. Management & Organizational Development from the United States International University. He also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in Communications Management (CCM) from Coventry University in the United Kingdom.
Monzer Ali
Chief Technology & Information Officer

Monzer Ali wields well over 19 years’ experience in the telecom industry gained from working for leading telcos in the Middle East and Africa (MEA), Central, East, and West Africa. Monzer’s track-record includes project and solutions management; customer experience management and operations management for CDMA/GSM/WCDMA/LTE projects.
He worked for Ghanaian Telecom firm, Areeba between June 2004 and August 2007 as a Charging Senior Engineer. When the company was acquired by the MTN Group and rebranded to MTN Ghana, he continued working for the MTN Group, rising through the ranks to become the General Manager, Service Delivery in December 2011. In December 2015 he joined MTN Nigeria as the General Manager, Solutions Delivery/Head of Architecture, a role he played for 2 years and 8 months, before being appointed as the CTIO for MTN Uganda in July 2018.
A certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Monzer also holds a
a Masters in Computer Communications Engineering and a Management Degree from the Lebanese University.
Andrew Bugembe
Chief Finance Officer

Andrew Bugembe is a finance executive with 22 years’ experience in a telecom environment. He has served in various executive and senior management finance roles in 5 MTN countries including CFO roles in Liberia and MTN Congo Brazzaville.
He joined MTN Uganda in 1998 and by 2006, he had risen to become a Financial Manager. By the time he left MTN Uganda in April 2010, he had risen to the rank of Senior Manager, Financial Operations, a rank he carried to MTN Ghana. In Ghana, he also served as General Manager for Financial Planning & Analysis as well as General Manager, Financial Planning & Analysis. In October 2014, he moved to Lonestar Cell/MTN Liberia as CFO until July 2016, when he became CFO for MTN Congo. After 3 years and 8 months, in this role, he in April 2020 returned to Uganda as CFO.
Bugembe is a chartered accountant (FCCA-UK) with a Master’s degree from the University of Wollongong in Australia and a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from India.
Dorcas Batwala Muhwezi
GM Customer Experience

Dorcas is an experienced customer experience executive within the telecommunications industry. She is also a Network Quality Assurance Expert who has managed several GSM, WiMAX, and CDMA network rollout projects. She has also led a World Bank-funded Rural Communications network expansion project.
She is skilled in customer experience process design and management; call centre management and customer complaints handling and management; network quality assurance; process development and re-engineering as well as telecommunications network planning and project management.
She started as a Communications Engineer with Uganda Electricity Board before joining MTN in July 2004 as a Senior Fixed Lines Planning Engineer. In July 2007 she was promoted to Manager Quality Assurance, before becoming the GM Customer Experience in September 2015, a role she holds to date.
She holds an MSc in Computer Science and Communication Engineering from the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, and a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical and Electronics) from The University of Manchester in the United Kingdom.
Enid Edroma
General Manager- Corporate Services

Enid is a Commercial and Corporate Lawyer with over 20 years of hands-on experience spanning oil & gas, government, and the telecommunications sectors.
Enid has been in the telecom regulatory space since 2006 when she joined Celtel from Shell Uganda (Now Vivo Energy) where she was Company Secretary/Legal Advisor. At Celtel/Zain Uganda (now Airtel Uganda) she worked as Head of Legal and Regulatory Affairs before moving to Smile Communications in Uganda and South Africa as General Manager, Commercial Legal Service.
She has also worked for the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) as the Director, Legal and Board Secretary from June 2016 until June 2018, when she joined MTN Uganda as the General Manager, Risk and Compliance. Subsequently she was in February 2019 appointed as the General Manager, Corporate Services.
She holds a Bachelor of Laws (Hons), majoring in Commercial and Corporate Law from Makerere University Kampala.
Juliet Kakayi Nsubuga
General Manager, Wholesale and Carrier Services

Juliet is a sales and marketing professional with over 20 years’ experience, sixteen of them at MTN Uganda.
Before being appointed to her current role at MTN, Juliet previously served in various roles, including Senior Manager Sales Operations, Senior Manager Business Sales, and Manager Government Sales. One of her flagship achievements at MTN is being a member of the core team that initiated and delivered the successful electronic airtime distribution platform.
Before MTN, Juliet enjoyed a flourishing sales and marketing career at different oil and gas as well as FMCG companies in Uganda. Ms. Nsubuga is an associate member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM-UK). She also holds a Master’s degree in Economic Policy and Planning and a Bachelor of Business Administration, both from Makerere University Kampala.
Judith Namugenyi
GM Internal Audit & Forensics Services

Judith Namugenyi possesses 23 years’ practical and proficient experience in governance risk and control across the manufacturing, financial services, and telecommunications services.
She joined MTN in November 2012 as the GM, Business Risk Management/Internal Audit and Forensics Services and after nearly 6 years, she was in August 2018 appointed General Manager, Internal Audit & Forensics, a role she still holds to date.
Nicholas Beijuka
GM Capital Projects

In his role as GM Capital Projects, Nicholas is responsible for Capex budgeting and rollout to ensure the company stays ahead of the curve.
He has spent 15 years at MTN, rising from a Senior Internal Auditor in 2005 to become a Projects Officer, in the Strategic Planning Division by November 2008. In January 2011, he was promoted to Senior Manager, Capital Projects before being appointed the GM Capital Projects in November 2012, a role he has well-held.
Before MTN, Nicholas held various auditing and internal controls roles at Ernst & Young, as well as Citibank Uganda, his last appointment before joining MTN.
He holds a Bachelor of Science (Economics) from Makerere University and a Post Graduate Diploma in Project Planning & Management from the Uganda Management Institute.
Joseph Bogera Joseph
GM- Sales & Distribution

Over the past 16 years, Joseph Bogera has developed commercial skills ranging from, business management, sales and distribution, account management, market & business development, salesforce training & development, sales performance management, and project management. This he has gained from working for various commercial entities in East and Southern Africa.
He began his career with MTN Uganda as a Business Account Manager, then moved to MTN Rwanda as a Corporate Sales Manager in August 2008. In August 2010, he progressed to work as the Country Manager for Brightstar Corp, an American electronic devices distributor, covering 11 countries including Zambia, Botswana, Mauritius, Kenya, and DRC, before returning to Uganda as the General Manager for GOtv in April 2017.
In September 2019, he rejoined MTN Uganda as the General Manager, Sales & Distribution.
Joseph, amongst other qualifications, holds an MA Economics (International Trade) from Makerere University Kampala.
Ibrahim Senyonga
GM Enterprise Business Unit

Ibrahim Senyonga recently joined the MTN Uganda leadership team as the General Manager for the company’s Enterprise Business Unit (EBU), a department that focuses on driving Business to Business sales for MTN.
He brings to MTN over 16 years’ experience from the banking sector where he served in several roles ranging from Regional Manager at dfcu Bank, Head of Retail Banking and Acting Executive Director at KCB Bank Uganda among others.
Ibrahim, who throughout his career, has won more than 13 outstanding performance awards, brings with him to MTN, deep experience in strategic governance, strategic planning and leadership, business development and relationship management, sales channels development and expansion, risk & operational control management.
He possesses an MBA in Finance from the University of Leicester (UK) and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Makerere University as well as various professional certificates, including an Aquis Accredited Asset and Liabilities Management Certificate from the famous INSEAD Business School in France.
Stephen Mutana
GM – Mobile Financial Services

Stephen Mutana is one of the longest-serving executives on the MTN leadership team. He has worked with MTN for over 18 years, including five years at the MTN Group, where he rose to the General Manager Customer Experience, heading teams in Customer Operations across 21 countries. He returned to Uganda in April 2020 to take up the General Manager, Financial Services Division at MTN Uganda.
During this time, he has built significant expertise as an experienced Customer Experience Manager skilled in management, strategic planning, business strategy, project management, and project planning.
Before MTN, Stephen also worked for Unilever Uganda from 1996 to April 2002, where he rose to the rank of Brand Manager
He holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) -Chemistry, Biochemistry graduate from Makerere University and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) majoring in Finance, from the University of Leeds in the United Kingdom.
Sen Somdev
Chief Marketing Officer

Somdev is a dynamic marketing professional with 20 years of rich experience in customer value management, brand governance, product development, telecom revenue management, business process development as well as sales & distribution across various markets in India, Africa, and the Middle East with top mobile service providers.
He joined the MTN Group in May 2017 initially as the GM Customer Value Management for the South and East Africa (SEA) region. In January 2019, he was appointed the General Manager Business Intelligence while doubling as the Chief Marketing Officer for Uganda. He has since assumed the CMO role substantively.
Before MTN, Somdev worked with various telecoms that include: Bharti Airtel Africa and Tata Teleservices Ltd. He also held various marketing roles within Flytxt Mobile Solutions, a global supplier of analytics and Artificial Intelligence-based customer value management solutions for especially telecoms.
Amongst other qualifications, Somdev, holds a Bachelor in Business Administration, from the Madurai Kamraj University, in India.
Kenneth Kiddu
Ag. GM Business Intelligence

Kenneth Kiddu is a telecoms executive with over 15 years, thirteen of which have been spent at MTN Uganda.
He joined MTN as a Product Development Manager and rose through the ranks and had by February 2019 become the Senior Manager, Enterprise Portfolio Management. It is from here that he was recently made the Ag. GM Business Intelligence
Kiddu who between January 2016 and January 2019 was the Senior Manager, Pricing & Business Intelligence, brings to the job a rich experience in strategic business planning, macro-economic risk planning, and competitor intelligence.
He holds an MBA from the MIP Politecnico di Milano School of Management in Italy
Samuel Gitta
GM Risk & Compliance

Samuel has over 15 years’ experience in Information Systems Audit and Management with a strong background in Information Risk Assurance and Management.
He started his career with Africa Online (U) Ltd as a Network Systems Administrator from 2003 to 2004 and then moved to MTN Uganda as a Senior IT Administrator from 2004 to 2006. He was then appointed to the position of Manager-Technology, Risk and Security advisory services at Ernst and Young (EA) from 2006 to 2008.
He then returned to MTN Uganda as the Manager-Information Security until 2012 when he was promoted to the position of Senior Manager- Information Risk Assurance. In 2018, he was laterally transferred to the position of Senior Manager- Enterprise Risk Management from whence he was appointed as the Acting GM-Risk & Compliance in June 2020.
Samuel has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Maths and Computer Science from Makerere University (Uganda). He is also a Chartered Information Systems Auditor (CISA) and Chartered Information Systems Manager (CISM).
