More than 200 delegates from 30 countries gathered on the 26th and 27th of October for the annual Businesswomen Summit to address female empowerment and to foster entrepreneurship. The event took place at the Sheraton Hotel in Kampala, Uganda.

The Organization of Islamic Countries (IOC) summit, in conjunction with Uganda Chamber of Commerce and Industry (UNCCI), the Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA), focused on issues related to women, business, trade and development.

Olive Kigongo, UNCCI President said, “We are honored that the OIC Business women’s summit has for the first time in its history been held outside the Middle East and North Africa. It has brought together businesswomen and entrepreneurs to discuss the challenges they face and to build a platform for trade and investment in financial institutions. This is a great opportunity for Ugandan women to learn from and network with the visiting delegates, as well as broaden their perspective, strengthen their businesses and build their capacities to a point where they can potentially do business with them.
