Cement manufacturer Hima Cement has enrolled the first batch of engineer trainees for this year in its annual Cement Professional Development Program (CPDP). The two year traineeship program is aimed at building the skills capacity required in the vital cement manufacturing industry. Hima admits 20 engineers from local universities every year.

The graduate trainees at the plant will go through on job training in areas of Safety and Environnent , Customers, Products and Quality, Raw mix preparation, Pyroprocessing , Grinding , Maintenance , Safety, Team work, Cost management and Project management.

Those enrolled in the program include, Bridget Namirembe and Kassim Bukenya of Electrical, Charles Kakooza and Roger Muhangi of Quarry, Emmanuel Otyek of Process, Michael Nandigobe of Mechanical and Ronald Nyanzi of Systems engineering.

The Engineers will fully and safely be integrated within Lafarge after the training.
