Pearl Bank has supported efforts to improve access to remote schools by donating motorcycles to Diocesan Education Inspectors (DEIs) under the Church of Uganda (COU) Education Directorate.
The initiative is aimed at strengthening education oversight, particularly in underserved areas where inspectors often face mobility challenges.
The donation forms part of a wider plan by the COU Education Directorate to equip inspectors with motorcycles to ease movement to hard-to-reach schools.
Speaking at the handover, Pearl Bank Executive Director for Operations, Martin Mugisha, commended the Church of Uganda for its continued contribution to Uganda’s education sector through its extensive school network.
He emphasized that education remains critical to national development and said the partnership reflects the bank’s commitment to community growth. “Education is a fundamental pillar,” Mugisha said.
He added that supporting inspectors’ mobility will enhance supervision and improve education standards, especially in underserved communities. “This supports better oversight,” he noted.

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda, the Most Rev. Dr. Stephen Samuel Kazimba Mugalu, welcomed the support, describing it as a timely boost to education initiatives.
He said the motorcycles will improve inspectors’ ability to reach remote schools and ensure consistent quality of education. “We are grateful for the partnership,” the Archbishop said.
He added that the support will enable DEIs to work more effectively, particularly in hard-to-access areas. “This will help reach inaccessible schools,” he noted.
Through such initiatives, Pearl Bank continues to invest in key sectors like education, contributing to community empowerment and broader socio-economic development in line with its purpose of fostering prosperity for Ugandans.
