The Institute for Certified Public Accountants (ICPAU) has opened its 2nd annual economic forum under the theme ‘Promoting sustainable growth and Development through Agriculture and Education.’ The forum which will be held from 23rd to 25th July 2014 at the Imperial Royale Hotel in Kampala will address issues affecting agriculture as a sector as well developing efficient human capital through education.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Patrick Ben Kagoro the president of the institute said as an organization mandated to give recommendations to government on matters of financial accountability across sectors, the forum was a great avenue to discuss key issues.

“Our economy still relies predominantly on agriculture but the sector continues to face challenges such as continued practice of subsistence farming, inadequate mechanization and improper accountability for the little funds. These are the issues we hope to address in this forum,
