Dr. Ben Mugasha runs Bemuga Group which started in 1994 with humble beginnings as a customs clearance and brokerage house trading as Cargo Masters, operating from downtown Kampala.
As Cargo Master, the company penetrated the mining sector, supporting clients who were exploring gold mining in the Karamoja sub-region in North Eastern Uganda. In 1997, after a year of exploration in mining, the company armed with experience switched their ambitions to venture into oil and gas exploration in Uganda.
Cargo Master did quite some work for Heritage Oil and Gas, one of the earliest companies in the Ugandan oil and gas rush. With the growing service scope and having realised the potential of oil and gas in Uganda, the founders saw fit to remodel and re-brand.
As a result, Bemuga Forwarders Ltd was incorporated in 1999 and took over the operations of Cargo Masters. The service scope continued to grow well into the eventual Oil and Gas exploration phase in the early 2000s.
Bemuga has since served almost all the oil and gas IOCs in the country delivering turnkey solutions and receiving some accolades of service over the years. The Group is now a key player in the oil and gas sector offering services under four businesses including Logistics solutions, heavy machinery rental and hire services, transport management solutions and specialized and professional lifting services.
