Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) has gone into a 3 year partnership with environment conservationists World Wide Fund (WWF) a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) and the National Forestry Authority (NFA). The partnership which is part of celebrations of World Environment Day held annually in June will see UBL plant over 18,000 indigenous trees to reclaim 109 acres of land in Navugulu forest Mpigi district.
The forest which was previously encroached upon has been gazetted for reforestation by NFA and is the first of WWF’s Earth Hour forest in the world. According to David Duli the Country Director WWF, Earth Hour is a global initiative that aims at sensitizing people about the importance of conserving the environment.
“This is the first ever Earth Hour forest in the world. So far we have been partnering with corporates and government agencies like Standard Chartered Bank and NFA to rehabilitate over 2,740 acres of land and we are glad to have UBL on board,
