PROFILE: Who is CPA Edward Akol, the designate Auditor General for Uganda?

Akol has spent 30 years with the Office of the Auditor General (OAG)⏤ the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) of Uganda⏤ and has worked his way from the bottom to the top. He holds an MBA from the Heriot-Watt University-Edinburg Business School as well as a Bachelor of Commerce from Makerere University. He is as well CPA (K) qualified.

The Parliamentary Appointments committee will on Thursday 4th July sit to vet Akol Edward, President Museveni’s appointee as the Auditor General. If approved by Parliament, Mr. Akol will be the executive head of the Office of the Auditor General (OAG)⏤ the Supreme Audit Institution (SAI) of Uganda. He replaces John F.S Muwanga who has served for more than 20 years⏤ first from 2001 to 2005 and later from July 2007 to July 2024.
