December is just a few days away and it will be the Christmas Season yet again.
For the second year, this Christmas will still be overshadowed by Covid-19 pandemic-related travel delays and holdups, probably one good reason why you should hold off your travel out of Uganda.
But to bring the Christmas warmth cheer and festivities, Speke Resort Munyonyo and the Commonwealth Resort Munyonyo as usual are on hand to recreate the Christmas feeling for the whole family.
According to the just-released 12 Days of Christmas programme, running from the 24th of December 2021 to January 4th, 2022 they have spared no effort to make sure that the whole family- children and adults are fully entertained. It will be 12 days of feasting, partying and learning as detailed below.

December 24th
THEME: Partridge in a Pear Tree
The Christmas festivities will start with Christmas Carols in the hotel lobby from 3:30 pm to 7:00 pm. There will be a DJ in the Banquet Hall starting at 6:00 pm onwards. Dinner will be served from 6:00 pm onwards at the Nyanja Restaurant and the Lake Terrace starting at 6:00 pm. Guests will be serenaded to a live band performance at the Lake Terrace from 06:00 pm onwards. For kids, there will be a Kid’s Movie showing at the Lake Terrance Gardens between 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm. Kids can also visit the petting zoo at the Mango Slope all evening. To enjoy this great family evening- adults shall part with UGX75,000 per head and UGX45,000 for kids below 14 years.
December 25th
THEME: Two Turtle Doves
There will be live band entertainment, kids play area, with face painting, balloon art as well as Santa and his Grotto. There will also be Christmas crackers and candy for kids. For the adults, there will be a complimentary glass of bubbly- (sparkling wine). Adults will part with UGX175,000 per head, while kids below 14 years, will part with just UGX70,000.
The Petting Zoo will be open all day for families at the Mango Slope.
Christmas Dinner shall be served at 06:00 pm in the Banquet Hall. For entertainment, there will be a live band at the Lake Terrace from 06:00pm and a kid’s movie night from 06:30 pm at a special kid’s area by the Lake Terrace.
December 26th
THEME: Three French Hens
The highlight of the day will be the Kid’s Shore Fishing Competition, starting at 09:00 am to 110:00am at the Marina, easing into a Boxing Day Kid’s Carnival with lots of activities at the Lakeside Gardens between 12:00 pm- 08:00 pm.
The Boxing Day Bubbly Brunch with live entertainment shall be served at the Lake Terrance from 12:00 pm – 04:00 pm. There will be a Kid’s movie night between 6:30 pm and 08:00 pm and the petting zoo shall be open all day.
December 27th
THEME: Four Calling Birds
There will be a Chef’s Special Year-end roast at the Lake Terrace from noon onwards and a Little Italian Chef Pasta Class for kids at the hotel’s Royal Club Kitchen between 04:00 pm and 06:00 pm. Between 06:30pm and 08:00 pm, there will be a kid’s movie showing at the Lake Terrace kid’s area.
The petting zoo shall be open all-day at the Mango Slope.
December 28th
THEME: Five Golden Rings
December 28th in the Christian religion is celebrated as the day of the Holy Innocents (children), so there will be a special Kid’s Drumming Night at the Lake Terrace between 05:00 pm and 06:30 pm followed by a kid’s movie night from 06:30 pm to 08:00 pm. For the adults, there will be a live DJ playing at the Lake Terrace and sundowner happy-hour starting from 06:00 pm onwards.
December 29th
THEME: Six Geese a-Laying
How Stanbic Bank CFO Ronald Makata Blends Governance, Technology and Human Leadership to Drive Performance
Unlike many hotels in the country, Speke Resort’s expansive 90-acre premises are home to over 100 bird species, so the 6th day of Christmas will be dedicated to bird-viewing. Dubbed the Budding Birders Club, there will be a birding experience for the family within the resort’s gardens between 09:00 am to 11:00 am.
There will also be a DJ and Cocktail Bar Sundowners from 05:00 pm onwards as well as a kid’s movie night from 6:30 to 08:00 pm.
The petting zoo will be open all day.
December 30th
Theme: Seven Swans a-Swimming
Speke Resort shall conduct a Best Bakers Class for the family between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm at the Resort’s Royal Club Kitchen. There will be a drumming experience for the children at the Lake Terrace gardens between 06:30 pm, easing into a kid’s movie night between 06:30 pm and 08:00 pm.
December 31st
Theme: Eight Maids-a-Milking
The New Year’s Eve (the 8th day of Christmas), shall feature a Treasure Hunt in the Botanical Gardens between 03:00 pm and 05:00 pm easing into a kid’s movie night. A chef’s special New Year’s Eve Dinner and Dance shall kick off from 07:00 pm sliding into a New Year’s Eve Bash in the Lakeside Gardens.
January 1st
Theme: Nine Ladies Dancing
The New Year’s Day shall feature a Kid’s Swimming Competition at the Olympic-size Speke Resort Pool between 09:00 am and 11:00 am. The Bottomless Bubbly Brunch shall be served at the Lake Terrace between 12:00 pm and 04:00 pm with a live band. There shall be a Kid’s Movie Night from 6:30 pm to 08:00 pm.
There will also be plenty of New Year’s kids’ activities and a DJ at the Lakeside Grill and Gardens.
January 2nd
Theme: Ten Lords a-Leaping
To burn off the Christmas feasting, there will be a Botanical Gardens Walk between 9:30 am to 11 am, followed by a Sunday Family Roast from 12:00 pm to 04:00 pm. The family roast shall be accompanied by a live band between 12:00 pm and 04:00 pm, gradually blending into a Kid’s Movie Night from 6:30 pm to 08:00 pm.
The petting zoo shall be open all day.
January 3rd
Theme: Eleven Pipers Piping
This 11th Day of Christmas will be marked by a tree-planting exercise- The Young Sampling Arbor Day between 09:0o am and 11:00 am at the Resort’s Fairies Garden. The Resort shall also host a Family Movie Night at the Viking’s Bar between 06:30 pm and 08:00 pm.
Visits to the petting zoo shall be open all day.
January 4th
Theme: Twelve Drummers Drumming.
To climax the 12 Days of Christmas at Munyonyo, there will be a Kid’s Arts and Crafts experience at the Lake Terrace’s Kid’s Area from 09:00 am to 11:00 am and a Family Drumming Evening between 6:30 pm to 08:00 pm. The day shall be crowned by a Kid’s Movie Night between 06:30 pm to 08:00 pm.
Visits to the petting zoo shall be open all day.
