Sylvia Jagwe Owachi is a banker with 24 years hands on and in-depth knowledge of Strategy Formulation & Execution, Corporate & Commercial Banking,Trade finance, Credit, Risk Management, Portfolio Management and Banking Operations.
Sylvia is a graduate of the Edinburgh Business School, Heriot – Watt University, with a Master’s of Business Administration and Makerere University with a Bachelor’s of Commerce, majoring in Finance.
She is currently the Executive Director, Cairo Bank Uganda Ltd, deputizing the Managing director and in charge of Business Development, Treasury, Information Technology and Marketing Departments.
Prior to joining Cairo Bank Uganda, she was the Group Head Corporate Banking, Guaranty Trust Bank Uganda Ltd for 4 ½ years providing leadership and strategic management for the Corporate and Financial Institutional businesses. Before joining GTBank, she worked with Standard Chartered Bank Uganda Ltd for 19 years in various roles i.e Head Commodity Traders &Agribusiness, Senior Relationship Manager, Parastatals, Local and International Corporates, Head Credit Analysts and Manager Credit Operations to mention a few.
Owachi is passionate about seeing businesses grow and transform through financing and advisory. She is also a mentor under “Girls for Girls” (G4G) a global mentorship programme empowering young women to lead and a Rotarian and member of Rotary Club of Kampala Naalya. She is married and has 3 boys.
